Smith, Adeline M (Langley), age 78 died June 17, 2016 in Russell, MA. Born April 16, 1939 in Isaac's Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada to Chester and Lettie (Clyburne) Langley. Adeline spent her teen years with her beloved foster parents Fred and Mary Ann Boyd in Cribbons Point, Nova Scotia. She married her one and only love, Neil Lawrence Smith on October 3, 1959 in Toronto, Canada. They we married until his death in 2002. Adeline received her nursing training with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Toronto. Her career included several hospitals in Canada and United States. She had been a resident in both Greenfield and later Gill, MA. Her dedicated work ethic was an inspiration. Her final employment at retirement was the Pioneer Valley Manor in Greenfield, MA. She was a devoted caregiver to the residents, particularly veterans and later to her husband in his declining years. Affectionately known as Gram to many young adults, friends and family. She was always happy to share her love of baking apple pies and cookies. Besides her husband Neil, she was predeceased by sisters: Winnie Cleversey, Christina Matheson, Helen Maclennan and brothers: James Langley, Everett Langley, and Allan Rankin Boyd. Adeline is survived by daughter Bonnie (Christopher) Kudlay, Son, Neil (Christina) Smith. Grandchildren: Jacob Smith, Shae Koharski, Bryan Smith, Jackson Smith, Jonathan Smith, Cassie Kudlay and Sadie Kudlay. Siblings: Margaret Byrne of Greenfield, MA, Lorne (Doris), Rollie (Ella), Reggie (Darlene), Lillian, twin brother, Seymour Langley all from Nova Scotia, Canada. Many nieces and nephews. Also survived by the Boyd siblings, Angus, George, Ross, Gerard, Paul, Sheila and Rosemarie all from Canada. Graveside services will be private at Saint Mary’s cemetery Turners Falls, MA. There are no calling hours. Firtion-Adams Funeral Home of Westfield, MA will serve the family.
