David S. Herman, 59, of Chester died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born in Westfield on May 25, 1958 the son of the late Stanley J. Herman and his wife Constance M. (Thayer) of Russell. He was a graduate of Gateway Regional H.S. and attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute. David was a Printing Lead and Scheduler at Jen-Coat for 24 years after working as a Foreman at Westfield River Paper Co. for 15 years. He leaves behind his loving wife Tara (Gainley), cherished daughters Rebecca and Emily, mother Constance, siblings Daniel and his fiancé Joanne Blocker, William and his wife Lynn, Laura Fisk and her husband Darryl, Gary and his wife Cynthia and several nieces and nephews. David loved the serenity of the home he built and the peaceful woods surrounding it. He enjoyed sharing daily commutes to and from work with his best friend, wife Tara. He was a devoted father who loved watching Becca succeed in sporting events at Gateway. He also enjoyed spending endless hours cooking and gardening with Emily. He was a lifelong Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan who rarely missed a game. David was an old-school, reserved Yankee who was happiest enjoying his family, his home and the simple things in life. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
