Westfield-Edward C. Barnes, 95, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA. He was born on August 16, 1922 to the late Curtis and Esther (Robbins) Barnes. He grew up in Westfield and attended local schools. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW-2. He was an electrician for many years and retired in 1984 from Collins Electric in Springfield. He was a member of Local #7 IBEW and just received a 70 year certificate. When he was younger he enjoyed riding motorcycles. He also had a passion for woodworking and loved making clocks. He also built his own home. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching old western movies. Edward leaves his wife of 62 years Lois (Mosher) Barnes and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his siblings Janice Hills, Shirley MacBrian and Donald R. Barnes. The funeral for Edward will be held on Wednesday March 7th at 12 noon from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A calling hour will be held from 11 am till 12 noon before the service. Burial will be held in the spring in Paucatuck Cemetery in West Springfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the MSPCA, 171 Union Street, Springfield, MA 01105 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 264 Cottage Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
