Westfield-Gary J. Mirek, 66, passed away surrounded by family on Dec. 28, 2017. He was born to the late Edward & Virginia (Carey) Mirek on June 2, 1951. He graduated from East Hartford High School CT. in 1969. In 1969 he also joined the Airforce Reserves for 6 years. He married “his girl” Kathy Dailey on June 9, 1973. He started as a lineman for Helco in Hartford, CT. and ended his 42 year career in the utility business at ISO New England as a forecaster. Along with his wife he also owned Westfield Cleaners in Westfield from 1990-2001. His true passions were working around his house, helping his children with various projects at their homes & above all else playing with his grandchildren. Gary is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy, his 2 children; Brian & wife Julie (Pagliarulo), Kelly Carney & husband Derek; 4 grandchildren, Matthew & Ella Mirek, Devyn & Liam Carney. He is also survived by his siblings; Judy Zipfel, Edward Mirek, Lynn Stearns and James Mirek. The Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 2nd from 4-7 pm at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, January 3rd at 10 am at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield.
