George M Croteau

February 26, 1922 ~ June 25, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old


George Marcel Croteau, 94, passed away on June 25 at his home in Westfield after a short illness.  George was born in Chicopee to his parents George J Croteau and Agnes (Beauchamp) Croteau.  After he graduated from Cathedral High School, Spfld., Ma, he proudly served his country as a  B-24 bomber pilot in WWII.  After the war, he worked in his family business, George J. Croteau & Sons Contractors until he retired.  He loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, driving his Model A Fords, and spending winters in his home in Englewood, FL.  His wife Eleanor (Brown) Croteau predeceased him.  He leaves his beloved wife Linna (Tower) Croteau, and children:  George, wife  Susan predeceased him of Chicopee, Barbara Lamy and husband Kenneth of Chicopee, Maryann Croteau of Marion, Virginia, Kenneth of Wilbraham,  Randall Longley and wife Theresa of Westfield, and son Scott and wife Jin Jie of Westfield.  He was predeceased by his son Charles and wife Diane.  George also leaves twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. He leaves his brother  Jean, wife Norma predeceased him of Chicopee and his brother Joseph and wife Pauline of Montgomery, and sister-in-law AnnaBelle Croteau and brother-in-law Robert King, both  of Englewood, FL.  He was predeceased by his sister Theresa Phaneuf and husband Vincent, brother Paul and wife Helen, brother Pierre and wife Marguerite, sister Cecile Leger and husband Raymond, brothers Bernard, sister Margaret King. He is survived by his long-time friend and “nephew” James Pasko of West Springfield. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 11AM - 12PM followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield. Burial with Military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St. Agawam. No flowers please.  Donations may be made to Noble Visiting Nurse &Hospice, 77 Mill St., Westfield, Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament Church, Holyoke Road, Westfield, or Springfield Rescue Mission, Spfld., MA. , or favorite charity.
