Jack Hayward

February 12, 1949 ~ December 21, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old


Jack Hayward, 68, passed away on December 21, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born and raised in Florida to the late Andrew J. and Betty (Brandon) Hayward. Jack played drums in the Leon H.S. Marching Band which was in Tallahassee. This sparked his love of playing drums in Rock and Roll bands. His many band mates have been forever friends. Jack graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a degree in Communications/television. His first production manager job was for WESH 2 in Central Florida. In 1980 the family moved to Westfield, his journey started at Channel 57 to Channel 3 to AETNA production director to Hayward Communications, retiring in 2012. Jack volunteered for over 25 years for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Westfield. He was a lifelong member of the Westfield River Watershed Association and along with Mark St. Jean they produced and directed the video “Five Feet & Rising: The Flood of ‘55”. It can still be found through WRWA and at the Westfield Athenaeum. As a promise to his mother, who became partially blind, Jack was a volunteer at the Valley Eye Radio. Jack leaves his beloved wife of 47 years, Lynn Hayward of Westfield, his loving sons Brad Hayward and wife Robin of Northampton and Ryon Hayward and wife Melissa of Alameda, CA, cherished grandsons Jacob Hayward and Nico, Kyle and Joey Craft. He was predeceased by his maternal siblings, Joan, Janet, Jim, and Jonathan Revels. A Celebration of Life and Music will be held for Jack on February 3, 2018 from 1-5 PM at the Son’s of Erin, 22 Williams St. Westfield.
