James Frederick, known to friends as ‘Jamie’ or ‘JR’, passed away on July 20, 2017 at the age of 69 after a short battle with cancer.  A native of Plattsburgh, NY, Jamie served in the US Army before attending SUNY Plattsburgh.  He graduated with a degree in music before settling in West Springfield years ago.  Jamie was an accomplished musician and played piano professionally in local bands for many years.  He worked in sales his entire career, most recently at Manny’s in Greenfield.  Jamie had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  He will be forever missed by his wife of 41 years, Christy (nee St. Jean), son Tyler, 38, and wife Emily of Boca Raton, FL, daughter Courtney LaPalme, 36, and husband Nick of West Springfield as well as grandchildren Payton Koeller, Isabelle Williams, Boston Williams, Timmy LaPalme and Cooper LaPalme.  Services will be at a later date.  Memorial donations in memory of Jamie may be made to the West Springfield High School Jazz Band or the Cancer Research Institute.
