Chicopee- Jerry T. McDonald, 69, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at home. He was born on August 25, 1947 in Columbus, GA to the late Edwin and Doris (Leichty) McDonald. He was a graduate of Findley High School in Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of Vietnam. He retired from the Navy and Navy Reserves after 22 years. After retirement he was a mechanic for Nuclear Power in CT and worked at Perry’s Auto Parts in Chicopee. Jerry enjoyed playing golf, playing the lottery and watching Jeopardy. He was pre-deceased by his wife Mary (Landry) McDonald in 2013. He leaves his children Mary and William Curran Jr., Kathleen and Thomas Pitoniak, Constance Locy and Larry Megill, Denise Cashin, Leann and Michael Fanion, Brian McDonald and Lil, Jerry McDonald Jr. and Bethany Goller, his grandchildren Matthew, Beth, William, Amanda, Michael, Nathan, Robert, Daniel, Katie, Benjamin, Johnny, Adam, Jesse, Haley, Abby, Cody, Sierra, Amy Cassidy and Canaan. He laso leaves his great-grandchildren Elijah, Andrew, Gabriella, Caroline and Jaxson, his siblings Larry, Robert, Sherry McDonald, Kaye McDonald-Davis, Debra McDonald Vanatta, and Jeanie McDonald-Miell. He was pre-deceased by his grandchildren Ronald Skroczky Jr. in 1987 and Andrew Fanion in 2014 and his son-in-law Robert Cashin in 2016. Calling hours for Jerry will be held on Tuesday January 17th at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield from 5-7 pm. The funeral and burial will be private.
