Middlefield – John F. Doane, 64, of Middlefield died Thursday December 28, 2017 at home. He was born in Springfield on February 9, 1953 to Robert William and Marjorie (Doane) Batorski. John was a 1970 graduate of Gateway Regional High School. Following graduation he served in the US Air Force, during Vietnam, where he learned his mechanical skills working on jet engines. He was employed as a truck mechanic for Rider Trucking of North Carolina for many years, and most recently for a local truck repair company. He enjoyed building model air planes and stone engraving. He leaves a brother, Mark W. Doane of Middlefield; two sisters Elizabeth Harkins and her husband, Daniel of Niantic, CT and Sarah Foley and her husband, Sean of Middlefield. He also leaves six nephews, Christopher, Nicholas and Benjamin Harkins, Brennan and Jonathan Foley and Jeffrey Doane. He also leaves a great nephew Gabriel Harkins and great niece Emalyn Doane. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Jeffrey Doane. Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
