Myrtle S. (Shattuck) Elton, 94 of Westfield died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Westfield. She was born on January 1, 1923 to Laurence and Dorothy G. (Bush) Shattuck. Myrtle graduated from Westfield High School in 1940 attended Shenandoah College in Dayton, VA and Syracuse University in New York. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Bay Path College and her Bachelor of Science Education from Westfield State College. Myrtle retired as a Supervisor in 1993 after thirty years of service from the Commonwealth of Mass Welfare Dept. She was a member of the Southwick and Westfield Friends of the Library, Westfield Mental Health Assoc., Southwick’s Grange, Senior Center, Historical Society and Writers Club. Myrtle was also a member of the Tai Chi Group, the House of Hope and was a Breeder and Exhibitor of Wesmerell Cocker Spaniels. She was the widow of Wesley E. Elton who died in 1972. She was also predeceased by brothers Sheldon and Donald Shattuck. She leaves a sister Elaine Arzberger of Sarasota, Florida, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and friends. The funeral will be Saturday, January 6th 2018 at 10 AM in the Episcopal Church of the Atonement, 36 Court St. Westfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
