Robert Burton MacDonald, 87, of West Springfield died Thursday August 25, 2016 at home. He was born in Westfield on September 7, 1928 son of the late Harold B. and Dorothy A. (Symes) MacDonald of Woronoco, MA. Robert was a graduate of Westfield High School and attended the University of Mass at Amherst. He worked as a tire builder for Uniroyal in Chicopee and as a papermaker for Strathmore paper Company and was also a chef at the former Highland Hotel in Springfield. Robert also enjoyed flower gardening and ball room dancing. He leaves two brothers, Harold F. MacDonald of San Jose, CA. and James E. MacDonald of Palmer, MA, three sisters, Minnie LaLiberty of East Longmeadow, Jeanette Fish of Ludlow and Beatrice Menes of Joliet, ILL. and twenty-seven nieces and nephews  Robert was predeceased by three sisters, Jean Curro,  Hilda Carpenter and Eleanor Ducharme. The Funeral will be Tuesday August 30, 2016, at 11 AM at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield with burial to follow in Russell Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 AM to 11 AM.
