Stephen Edward Rose, 61, died Thursday, February 23, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with M.S. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas and has been a lifelong resident of Westfield. He was a 1975 graduate of Westfield High School.  He loved helping out in the community, volunteering and coaching his children and their friends in soccer and basketball. Stephen was an active member of the Pioneer Valley Water Ski Club and enjoyed camping.  He had a great love for  animals. He leaves his best friend and the love of his life,  his wife of 38 years Sandra A. (Marceau) Rose, his children Catherine (Rose) Wayland and her husband James of North Granby, CT, Monica Rose and  Kevin Stephen Rose, both from Westfield.  Great joy was brought to Stephen by his two loving and adorable grandsons, Gavin and Dylan Wayland.  He leaves his mother, Elaine (Dubinski) Rose and  his brothers Paul and Daniel Rose all of Westfield. In addition Stephen leaves many brother and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his father Gerald Rose and his brother Martin Rose. A funeral service for Stephen will be held on Tuesday February 28 at 7 pm from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stephen may be made to the Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, Westfield, MA 01085.
