Ada Emma Rivera

SPRINGFIELD-Ada Emma Rivera, 68, died, Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in Baystate Medical Center. She was born to the late Francisco and Maria Justina (Velazquez) Sanchez on July 29, 1950 in Coamo, Puerto Rico. Emma grew up in Coamo, spent some time in Manhattan, New York and then returned to Puerto Rico where her children were born. She returned to Springfield in 1972 and worked for the Springfield Housing Authority and retired from Western Mass Medical Group after 25 years. Emma enjoyed road trips to the casino, her time spent at Hammonasset Beach as well as spending time with her family. She leaves her husband of fifty years Jaime, two sons, Javier Rivera Sanchez and his wife Merylin Rivera of Kathleen, Georgia and Francisco D. Rivera and his wife Lindsey Adams-Rivera of East Longmeadow, grandchildren Alina, Amanda and Sofia Rivera, Mala Adams-Rivera and Lucas Rivera, two brothers, Harold Sanchez of Coamo, Puerto Rico and Eliseo Sanchez of Weston, Florida. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 11-1 at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
