Andrew A. Pignatare, 94, passed away on October 22, 2019 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born in Westfield to the late Aneillo and Elizabeth (Grimaldi) Pignatare and was a graduate of Westfield Schools. Andy served his country with the United States Army during World War II from 1945-1946. He attained the rank of Technician 4th Class and received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was employed by the City of Westfield School Department as a custodian and retired in 1987. He also was the owner and operator of Andy’s Variety on East Mountain Rd. Westfield. Andy was a member of the Tip Top Trio, enjoyed playing bocce and cards. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 124, the Italian Fraternal Club and St. Rocco’s. Andy was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield. Andy had a love of song and a contagious smile. Andy was predeceased by his beloved wife Yvette (Labbe) Pignatare in 1997 and is survived by his loving children, Andrew J. Pignatare and his wife Terry Ann of Southampton, Carol A. Pignatare of Westfield, Laurie S. Salafia and her husband Ronald of Sanford, NC, Janis M. Kelley and her husband James of Blandford, Karen L. Renschler and her husband Dutch of Westfield, his brother Aneillo A. Pignatare of Port Orange, FL, and his cherished eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Antoinette Towson earlier this year. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9AM in Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield. Burial will follow the Mass in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7PM in the funeral home.
