WESTFIELD – David Richard Strong, 82, of this city, died on December 24, 2019 at the Governors Center, Westfield.  Dave was born December 2, 1937, in Westfield, to the late Henry S. Strong and Isabel M. (Baker) Strong.  Dave worked at Columbia Bicycle as a foreman in the wheel room for many years. He more recently worked and retired from the maintenance department at Westfield Vocational Technical School.  Dave was well-known for his sense of humor and quick wit.  Dave was a big fan of western films, especially ones with John Wayne.  Dave loved spending time with his family and friends.  Dave was also an avid fisherman and loved to go metal detecting.  He was predeceased by his wife, Irene (Noonie) Hebda  in 2001.  He leaves a son Brian Strong of Westfield, four step-children, Kevin Noonan of Springfield, Kathy Mederios of Westfield, Karen Brettman of Florida and John Noonan of California; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased 2 children Kim Freistat, Lori Anderson. Calling hours will be held at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield on January 17th from 12 noon to 2 p.m., followed by a short service at 2:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104
