Holyoke-Eugene B. Fontaine, 86, died Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born in New Bedford, MA on Sept. 27, 1930 to the late Eugene and Viola (Breault) Fontaine. He grew up in New Bedford and Springfield. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He worked at various machine shops in the area and retired in 1988. He was a member of Elm Belcher Lodge and Mont Moriah Lodge of Masons. He enjoyed C.B radio’s and loved his music. He leaves his children Eugene Fontaine of Ware, Denise McCormack of East Longmeadow, Regina Stevens of Springfield, Jeanine Nielson of Mendon, Utah, Victoria McDonald of Longmeadow, Marilyn Parrott of Springfield and Bonnie-Jean Fontaine of West Springfield. 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Kibbles. Eugene was pre-deceased by a daughter Deborah Ann Fontaine in 1957. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, June 13 at 10 am in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
