Evelyn M. Mazut, 85, of Westfield died peacefully on Thursday, August 9th at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Westfield, MA on November 13, 1932 to Alexander and Martha (Maciorowski) Janisieski. She worked for Whip City Tool & Die for 22 years, retiring in 1995. Evelyn was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Westfield. She leaves her loving husband and best friend of 62 years, Frank P. Mazut; her son, Paul (Nancy) of Becket MA, her daughters, Ann Marie Picard (Raymond) of Southampton MA and Carol (Thomas) O’Connor of Westfield; her granddaughters, Camille and Renée Picard, who were her pride and joy; her sisters, Florence Patla and Francis Zering both of Westfield as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers Stanley, Frank, and Wesley Janisieski and three sisters Anne Czarnecki, Sophie Blascak, and Jennie Skowronski. Evelyn made friends everywhere she went and her kindness, positive energy, and love of life was felt by everyone. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and cherished her monthly get togethers with classmates. She was an active member of the YMCA where she had many special friends, especially Joanna, Marlene and Mary who have supported and loved her throughout her illness. She also leaves many lifelong friends from this area and Florida where she enjoyed many winters. Calling hours at Firtion- Adams Funeral Home will be held on Monday, August 13 from 8:30-10:00 am followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30, Holy Trinity Church, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
