Irene M (Gingras) Bernard

Westfield-Irene M. (Gingras) Bernard, 92, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at home. She was born in Fitchburg, MA on February 8, 1926 to the late George and Mary Louise (Aubin) Gingras. Irene volunteered for many years at the Westfield Food Pantry, St. Mary’s Church, and Noble Hospital. She was a member of the Romani’s Thursday morning bowling league for 30 years until she was 91 years old. She was pre-deceased by her husband Louis J. Bernard, her daughter Jean M. Racine, 3 brothers and 8 sisters. Irene is survived by her daughter Linda M. Racine of Holland, MA, her grandson Jason R. Pitoniak and his partner Denise LaPlante of Fairport, NY, her granddaughter Dr. Elizabeth A. Racine of Holland, MA, her sister Eva Sparks of Fitchburg and many nieces and nephews. The funeral for Irene will be held on Tuesday March 6th at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church, Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Tuesday morning at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield from 9 am till 10 am.
