Jean T. (Jeneral) Janis

Jean T. Janis, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring in St. Augustine, Florida. She was born in Westfield, Massachusetts on February 27, 1927 to the late Jozef and Josefa Jeneralczyk. She lived her entire life in Westfield until moving to St. Augustine in 2016 and resided at the Silver Treasures Assisted Living facility. Jean is survived by her beloved daughters Patti Janis Rodriguez (Jose), Jan Halloran (Michael), her cherished grandchildren, Cara Halloran Paquette (Michael), Kyle Halloran (Jesse), Nicolas Rodriguez (Jessica), Alec Rodriguez, and her precious great grandchildren, Jack and Benjamin Paquette. Jean was an extraordinary mother, devoted grandmother, adoring great grandmother, favorite aunt and caring friend. She loved to explore, travel, and most of all, spend summers on Cape Cod. Jean was employed at Westfield State University for 25 years and took tremendous pride in being a part of the WSU community. Jean spent her retirement volunteering at the Genesis House, the Dewey House and was a member of the Westfield Historical Society. She was a lifelong communicant of Holy Trinity Parish. Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward “Fatty” Janis, and her siblings, Anthony Jeneral, Loretta Tarala and Anastasia Sloat. The family is forever grateful to the Bailey Family Center for Caring and the Community Hospice medical staff for providing wonderful care, compassion and kindness during an extremely difficult time. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 24th at 9AM from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial, at 10AM in Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Jean’s family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Monday, July 23rd at the funeral home.
