Lillian B Ayr

Lillian B. “Mema” Ayr, 93, died peacefully on November 19th at Mercy Hospital. She was born on November 23, 1924 in New Haven, CT to Nellie and Gus Blokland. Lillian grew up in East Haven, CT graduating from East Haven High School in 1942. Westfield has been her home since 1959. She was a communicant of the Episcopal Church of the Atonement. She was employed by the City of Westfield from 1973 to 1999, working for the School Department and then as the Secretary to the Chief of Police of Westfield to her retirement in 1999. Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Ayr in 1963 and her son David A. Ayr in 2004. She leaves a sister, Doris Bryant of Westbrook, CT and two sons, Robert L. Ayr II of Key West, FL, and George T. Ayr and his wife Susan of Westfield, MA. She leaves five grandchildren; Robert Ayr III and fiancé Sarah Wright, Emily Ayr, Geoffrey Ayr, Jason Ayr, Jacqueline (Ayr) Osowski and husband Matthew Osowski. She leaves three great-grandchildren, Tryston, Natalie, and Trinity. Her funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 24th at 12:00 at The Episcopal Church of the Atonement, 36 Court St., Westfield, MA. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Court St. Westfield. Before the funeral mass, a visiting hour will be held at The Episcopal Church of the Atonement 11-12pm.
