Margaret Ann (Scholpp) Greene, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Western Massachusetts Hospital after a long battle with MS. She was born in Westfield to the late Frederick J. Scholpp and Margaret (Consolatti) Scholpp, and she was a 1961 graduate of Westfield High School. Known as “Peggy” to most she was the owner of Greene Patches Quilt Studio in Westfield where she taught others to make quilts, pillows, Halloween costumes, dresses and other crafts. She also attended several craft fairs throughout the years to sell her items. Sewing was her passion, but she also enjoyed gardening, baking, vacationing and spending time with family. Peggy also worked at Steiger's in Westfield in the Housewares and Intimate Appeal departments until the store closed, and she worked at JoAnn Fabrics in Holyoke for a few years. Peggy was a communicant of St. John's Lutheran Church in Westfield. Peggy is predeceased by her 2 brothers Frederick H. Scholpp and Louis C. Scholpp. Peggy is survived by her husband of 51 years Robert A. Greene of Westfield, her two loving children, Scott A. Greene of Westfield and Jennifer L. Neylon and her husband Kurt of Southampton and her four grandsons, Brandon and Avery Greene of Westfield and Aydan and Ethan Neylon of Southampton. Peggy also has many cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 60 Broad Street Westfield on Thursday at 11AM. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours will be held at Firtion Adams, 76 Broad Street Westfield, MA 01085 on Wednesday from 4-7pm and Thursday from 10-11AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Peggy's family would like to thank the staff at Western Massachusetts Hospital for making her time there enjoyable and comfortable.
