Amy E. (Langevin) Platt Obituary

Amy Elizabeth ( Langevin) Platt, age 50. Born in Springfield, MA. She is survived by her husband, Aaron; son, Nick, the joy of her life; father Mark; her sister Meagan and brother in law Chad Farraher and their sons Colin and Brayden. Amy was loved by a loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins. In her yearlong battle with Stage 4 triple negative metastatic breast cancer she fought alongside another warrior in the family, her mom Joan, who sadly passed away last December. Amy graduated from Cathedral high school in 1994. An established Alumni of Westfield State University class of 1998 with a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. One of her most giving and meaningful gifts was when she was a bone marrow donor for her best friend at WSC. That was just the beginning of showing the world that, although she was quiet, her heart and character were her super power. After college she worked in television at WWLP and ESPN but it didn't fulfill her true calling which was giving back to those in need. Amy went on to get her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, a field that she was so passionate about. From teaching in the classroom to running IEP meetings for special education departments in public schools, Amy landed her dream job most recently as Early Learning Coordinator at Willie Ross School for the Deaf. With her fluency in American Sign Language she was able to connect with children and families in the most unique way. Amy has always had a gift of helping those in need, supporting children in times of crisis, and being a voice for a child that may not have one. The magic of Disney, wisdom of Winnie-the-Pooh and spirit of the Boston Red Sox sums up Amy perfectly. She not only read the inspirational quotes of Pooh and Mickey but she lived it and everyone around her felt her “Magic". The magic ability to bring a smile to your face when you needed it, an ear to listen when no one else would and a shoulder to cry on because she didn't judge you. She loved people for who they were. Because when you can be anything in this world, Be Kind. She taught us all that. Aaron, Nick and her entire family would like to personally thank all the employees at Hartford Hospital and the incredible nurses at Avon Infusion Center. When you are as kind as Amy was, your spirit and legacy are forever remembered in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to have known her. In lieu of flowers donations will be used to design a memorial buddy bench at the Willie Ross School for the Deaf and Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute Infusion Center in Avon CT.
