Angela O'Donoghue Obituary

Angela (Thomas) O’Donoghue passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31 at the Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow, MA at the age of 79. She leaves behind her husband Tim O’Donoghue of Southwick, MA (and Seattle, WA) She also leaves her daughter Alison Cairns and granddaughters Morgan and Sydney of Burling- ton, Ontario and son Brian Curry, daughter-in-law Beth and grandson Crue of Hamilton, Ontario. Angela was born in Leamington Spa, England to Leslie and Dorothy Thomas on August 19, 1944 during an air raid. The family moved to Canada in 1952. Brother Stuart and sister Meriel passed away before her. She studied at Teacher’s College and taught grades 1 and 2 for several years. Another job was working at McMaster University in Toronto with the earliest standardized patient program for medical students. She moved to Seattle, WA in 1999 where she and Tim married after meeting online. Soon after, she started learning photography with some of the earliest digital cameras. To share the photos with friends and relatives near and far, she taught herself to design web pages, continuing both pursuits for many years. Angela and Tim spent most weekends traveling locally and throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond, exploring city parks, wildlife refuges, beaches, mountains and deserts. Many times she was photographed hugging the trees she so loved. Angela walked to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle several times a week to visit and photograph her zoo friends, or walked the hilly streets of Seattle. She also worked for several years at the University of Washington, continuing teaching in their standardized patient program. In her leisure hours she loved to knit, bake, read and write her blog. In 2020, she and Tim moved to Western Massachusetts and set up a home in Southwick, MA. This gave them more time to spend with family, including mother-in-law Jane D. O’Donoghue, Tim’s siblings and in-laws Mary Jane McMahon (Michael), Tom O’Donoghue (Beth), Elizabeth O’Donoghue (Dale) and John O’Donoghue (Jo- anne). Nieces and nephews Siobhan, Caitlin, Patrick (Katy), Brendan and Tara. Grandnephews Seamus, Sean and grandniece Eilionora. Angela’s kindness, smile and beautiful spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
