Anna V. “Annie” Jakus, 98, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Mary’s Meadow in Holyoke. She was born in Westfield to the late Simon and Vincenta (Misinkeviciute) Melesius and was a 1944 graduate of Westfield High School. Annie worked as a secretary for the Westfield Public Works Department. She loved playing bingo, going to the casino and traveling. She loved going to Springfield Indians hockey games with her husband for many years and doing crafts, crosswords and word search puzzles. Annie was a past president of the rosary sodality and active and lifelong member of St. Casimir’s Church, Westfield. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband John “Jake” Jakus in 2004, her four brothers, John Miller, Thomas Miller, Joseph Miller and William Miller, a niece Linda Miller Atkins and a nephew Kevin Miller. She is survived by three nieces, Peggy (Paul) Carbonneau, Mayre Miller and Patricia (Steve) Cyranowski, four nephews, Paul Miller, Thomas (Susan) Miller, Douglas (Amy) Miller and Gerald (Laurie ) Miller and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Peter’s Church, 32 State St. Westfield followed by Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield. Her family would like to thank the staff at Mary’s Meadow for their care and compassion over the past 4 ½ years.
