Anne S (Trudel) Detka

Anne Sarah (Trudel) Detka, 72, passed away at Bear Mountain Nursing Home on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. She was born in Fitchburg, MA to the late Arthur and Anne (Donelan) Trudel, was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Fitchburg State. She was a registered nurse for 50 years, working at Baystate Medical Center, Noble Hospital and various nursing home in the area and also worked as a case manager. Anne loved reading and writing children’s poetry. She had three books published, one with 40 children’s poems in it and two short story books for children. For 25 years she read her poems to countless elementary school students in the Westfield School system, and now are being read by the teachers. She enjoyed watching her sons, baseball, soccer and basketball games when he was young and going on fishing trips with her husband and son. She loved to travel and visited many National Parks and enjoyed gardening. Anne is survived by her beloved husband, Stanley Detka, Jr. of Westfield, her loving son, Matthew Detka and his wife Laura of Westfield, her brother Arthur F. Trudel, Jr. and his wife Anne of Virginia and her sisters, MaryLou Sanborn and her husband Bob of Fitchburg, MA and Cathy Pelletier and her husband Jim of Virginia. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11AM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd.
