Barbara J. (Brown) Mitchell

Barbara J. (Brown) Mitchell 84 died on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.  Originally from Springfield and a Commerce HS graduate, she lived in Southwick before moving to Westfield in 1958 when she married her lifelong love and husband Francis T. Mitchell who predeceased her in July 2021 in their 63rd year of marriage. She was a longtime WT Grants department store Office Manager before becoming the Accounts Payable Supervisor for Mestek starting in 1977 where she is recognized in the 25 Year Club. She was a loyal fan of the Westfield HS Hockey team where she cheered for her sons, then grandson, and along with her former husband were recognized by the team for their dedicated attendance for many decades. She was also formerly a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church Choir Group. She leaves her three sons Raymond Mitchell and his sons Derek and Brett of Southwick, Robert Mitchell of Westfield, and Richard and his wife Carrie of Southington, CT and their three children Talia Mitchell, John and wife Kelly Mitchell, and Alexa and husband Nate Mullins; her great grandchildren Olivia and Jack Mitchell and Avery Mullins; and her sisters Joan Learned of Westfield and Elizabeth Ann Janek and husband Robert of South Yarmouth, MA. She was predeceased by her brother William Brown and his wife Marcia of Reno, NV, and her sister-in-law Sandra Matyseck and her husband Robert of Westfield. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
