It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Bettejane Duso. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 83 years old. Bettejane graduated from Westfield High School in 1960 and went on to attend the Holyoke Hospital School of Nursing. Her career was not just a job; it was a calling. She worked with immense compassion and an unwavering commitment to her patients. Her gentle touch and reassuring presence provided solace and comfort to countless individuals over the years, and her legacy in the medical community remains one of kindness, professionalism, and empathy. Beyond her professional achievements, Bettejane was the heart and soul of her family. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she cherished every moment spent with them, celebrating milestones and creating memories that will be treasured forever. Bettejane’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear. Her genuine kindness endeared her to everyone she met, making people feel truly valued and loved. She was predeceased by her husband, Oscar Duso; her parents, Kenneth and Miriam Piper; her sisters, Marilyn Johnson and Donna Hiltpold; and her beloved son, Kin Duso. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle Meyers, Sheri Bonavita and her spouse Peter, Denise Koziara and her spouse Gregory, and Lois Duso. She was the adored grandmother to eight grandchildren: Michael Meyers, Eric Lucia, Craig Blais, Stephanie Lucia, Charity Brown, Evan Duso, Ethan Duso, and Dean Koziara; and the beloved great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine Greene; her brother, Kenneth Piper Jr.; her sister-in-law and cherished friend, Gail Duso; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. While her passing will leave a profound void, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who knew her. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Cynthia Hill. We will forever be grateful to Cynthia for her unwavering dedication, friendship, and care to our mother over the last several years. Her presence brought immense comfort, joy, and peace to our mother's life, and she will always be considered a cherished member of our family. In accordance with Bettejane’s wishes, a wake will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with the funeral service following immediately at 11 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow directly at Pine Hill Cemetery, Westfield, MA. As we bid farewell to Bettejane Duso, the family extends their deepest gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and inspiration for all.
