Betty L. (Densmore) Coughlin

Betty L. (Densmore) Coughlin, 95, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Arbors in Westfield. She was born in East Montpelier, VT, oldest of ten children, to the late Llewellyn and Ruth (Glading) Densmore. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Vermont and Westfield Schools. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Westfield State and her Master’s Degree Plus 40 from American International College. She worked for American Bosch during World War II, Electrical Engineering and she worked for the Suffield Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher and reading teacher for over 25 years. Betty wintered in Estero, FL for over twenty years, she enjoyed sewing and knitting and was active with the Suffield Retired Teachers Association and served as their secretary. Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 28 years, Thomas F. Coughlin in 1983, her brothers, Llewellyn Densmore, Lester Densmore, Loren Densmore and Leon Densmore and two sisters, Lorena McKinstry and Drucylla Masi. She is survived by her loving daughter Merry L. Moriarty and her husband Dan of Westfield, three sisters, Lyle Miller of Monson, Floene Young of S. Carolina and Lorine Liberty of Chicopee. Her family would like to thank the staff in the Reflections Unit at The Arbors for the care and support of Betty. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 11 AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield, MA.
