Calvin Pixley Obituary

Calvin Pixley, a cherished resident of Westfield, and formerly of Cummington, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at his home on October 26, at the age of 83, due to complications from pneumonia.  Born on December 3rd, 1940, in Pittsfield, he was the youngest son of Arthur and Gretta Pixley of West Cummington, Massachusetts.  He was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.  After high school, he served in the U.S. Army for four years as a missile technician. He was a past member of the Cummington Fire Dept.  Calvin was a dedicated and skilled Master mechanic, whose career spanned many years at Mestek, Inc., in Westfield, where he continued to do contract work for them after his retirement.

Calvin's passion for mechanics and engineering extended beyond his professional life.  He was an active member of several sportsmen, antique truck, and auto clubs.  He would often show his vehicles at antique auto shows and in parades. He also had a love for aviation, which led him to become a founding member of the Westfield Aviation Museum, where he proudly served on the Board of Directors, contributing significantly to the Museum's growth and success.

Calvin is predated by his parents, two brothers, David and Stephen, and one sister, Marilyn.  He is survived by his wife, Judith, and seven nieces and nephews.  Calvin's life was a testament to his dedication, warmth, and the joy he found in his passions.  His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

In keeping with his family's wishes, a service and internment in the West Cummington Cemetery is planned for April.
