David Burt Obituary

David Raymond Burt passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 13th, 2022 in his home in Surfside Beach South Carolina. David was the son of Raymond Allen Burt, and Nellie Tarnauskas Burt, born in Westfield, Massachusetts on January 19th, 1948. 

David graduated from Westfield Highschool in 1967 and at age 17 joined the Unites States Marine Corps, where he served in Vietnam. David received the Meritorious Mast, National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge. David studied Business Administration at Quincy College for two years, and in 1980 David became a Police Officer. He worked for the Westfield Police Department for twenty-two years where he retired in 2002.  David met Nicole in 1982 and they lived happily together for many years before finally tying the knot in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 18th, 1995.  They lived in Westfield for about twenty-five years, and later retired to Surfside Beach, SC.

David is predeceased by his wife, Nicole Marie Burt who passed on March 21, 2021. He is survived by his two step-daughters Erica Twiss, and her two sons, his grandchildren, Liam Graham and Anthony Twiss; Heather Twiss and her husband, Michael Parish.

David is predeceased by his sister Nancy Burt and leaves behind his sister Patricia L. Barret and her husband Bob, her four children; Raymond Crane and his three children, Trevor, Brady and Logan; John Crane, David’s God Child, and his wife Barbara Crane, their two children, Kaitlyn Crane, her Fiancé  Kevin Augustino and their two children; and his son, John Crane; Kimberly Crane and her husband Mathew Tosh, their three children (Alyssa, Lexi, and Matthew); Kelly Crane Leblanc, her husband Dan and their daughter Kayla.

A Celebration of Life will be held in loving memory for both David and Nicole Burt on April 25th, 2022 from 4-7PM at the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, in his hometown of Westfield, Massachusetts, where David was born and raised, and he and Nicole lived, for over twenty-five years. www.firtionadams.com
