April 21, 1970 ~ September 11, 2021 (age 51)

Obituary

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, David Walczak, of Russell, loving husband and father of two children, passed away unexpectedly at home at the young age of 51, surrounded by his family and friends. Dave was born on April 21, 1970 in Holyoke, MA to Stanley and Helen (Robillard) Walczak. He graduated from Westfield Vocational High School in 1990. He was a machinist for over 30 years specializing in aerospace and commercial manufacturing, working at ITI, Jet Industries, and other machine shops, ending his career at Boulevard Machine and Gear. On October 9, 1999 he married the love of his life Lisa Zeneski. They had dated as teenagers and reconnected a few years later. During their 21 years of marriage, they raised their two daughters, Rachael and Hannah, and their niece Harper. Dave was a very loving and devoted father. He never missed a soccer game and was very proud of his girls, Rachael studying nursing and Hannah studying aviation. Dave was a diehard New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, faithfully watching or keeping up on the scores. He was also a fanatic of Van Halen. At home, you could find Dave in the garage, listening to a game, helping the girls with their homework or enjoying a fire and a Bud Light or two. He was very well known for his epic bonfires. He loved vacationing on Cape Cod and at Ocean City, Maryland. He was an active member of the Russell Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter. We were all very proud of him. He looked forward to going to meetings and trainings. On the morning of his passing, he was able to participate in the Sept. 11th ceremony at Camp Moses to honor all of the heroes from that tragic day. Dave will be missed by so many….. Besides his wife, daughters, and parents; he is survived by his brother Brian and wife Pam Walczak of Ludlow; his sister Melissa and husband Ismael Santiago of Westfield; his brother Matthew and wife Catta Leeya Walczak of Groton. His father-in-law Gary Zeneski of Westfield; his sister-in-law Melissa and husband Lee Perez of Kansas City; his sister-in-law Jennifer Deschaine of Huntington; his brother-in-law Kevin Zeneski of Westfield and his sister-in-law Lindsey Woodbury of West Springfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved “Framily”. Services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, 12:00 pm-3:00 pm at Firtion Adams Funeral Home in Westfield, followed by a Celebration of Life at Strathmore Park in Russell. This is where he drove his 1975 Chevy Nova to the car show on August 1st. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Children’s Diabetes Foundation.
