David K. Trotman

David Knowles Trotman, 88, passed away peacefully on November 5 surrounded by the loving family that was the center of his life.

Dave was born in Holyoke on February 16, 1936, son of the late Leslie and Cecile (Benoit) Trotman. He graduated from Holyoke High School and served in the United States Navy.

He spent most of his working life employed at Micro Abrasives, Westfield, as Vice President of Production.

Dave was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church for more than six decades.  He served as Eucharistic Minister, CCD teacher, and member of the Finance Committee. He also served as President of the Westfield High School Band Parents’ Association.

Dave lived a life of integrity, service, optimism and humor. He was the type of person who would strike up a conversation with anyone and that person would immediately feel like a life-long friend.

Dave loved spending time with his family, especially his wife, Nancy, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He loved boisterous family celebrations and a great meal.  He was passionate about fishing with family and friends and relished telling tales about his latest adventure on the water. 

A close and loving family is Dave’s legacy.

He leaves the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Nancy (Laudato) Trotman. Dave loved to show everyone he met the black-and-white photo he kept in his wallet of he and his sweetheart, Nancy, while dating in the 1950s.

Dave leaves five children – Terese A. Geehern (Christopher) of Marstons Mills; David C. Trotman (Carol) of Southampton; Elaine M. Anthony (David) of Centerville; Kenneth J. Trotman (Nicole) of Old Forge, NY; and Anne M. Butler of East Haven, CT.

He leaves 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave was predeceased by his parents and four sisters – Dorothy Malek, Patricia Spath, Jaqueline Peters and Beatrice Peltier.

Calling hours for Dave will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. The funeral for Dave will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Road, Westfield.  Burial will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Westfield.
