Denis Armand Croteau

Denis A. Croteau passed away peacefully on September 3, 2023 at home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle against glioblastoma. He was born in Holyoke to Pauline (Houle) Mercier and the late Gerard Croteau on February 1, 1960. Denis graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1978. After High School he joined the air force where he was highly decorated and received Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon. After his time in the service he became a plumber working for many years for both his own company DC Plumbing and Heating and later on in his career UMASS Amherst. Denis was an avid coin collector, fisherman and football fan but his biggest pride and joy was his family and being the best “Peps” to his three grandsons. Denis is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Karen (Dutilly) of Southampton, his daughter, Kayla Rida and husband Cody of Chesterfield. His beloved grandchildren, Jace, Parker, and Krew Denis. Denis leaves his mother, Pauline Mercier, his brothers Raymond and wife Margaret, Roland and wife Theresa, Gary and wife Laurie and many nieces and nephews. Denis’s Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 11:30Am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 1945 Northampton St, Holyoke, MA 01040. His burial with Military Honors will follow at 1 PM in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling hours for Denis will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 4-7 PM in Firtion- Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield.
