Diane M. (Kehr) Batchelder

Diane Marie (Kehr) Batchelder, 75, of Westfield, passed away peacefully at home on Mother’s Day May 14, 2023, with her family at her side.  Diane was born on June 14, 1947 in Ludlow, MA to Charles and Evelyn (Rider) Kehr. She grew up in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School in 1965.  After graduating she went on to work in Client Relations at Dirats Laboratories for forty-four years until her retirement in 2009.  She was a loyal member of the Dirats team, a cherished coworker, and someone all clients loved speaking with. Diane was predeceased by her beloved husband of 39 years, John James Batchelder in 2007.  She is survived by her two daughters, Danielle Batchelder and Gabrielle Scheufler, her son-in-law Christopher Scheufler, and her pride and joys, her four grandchildren:  John Goulette, William Hennessey, and Lucie and Jack Scheufler. Diane also leaves her dear cousin Dory Young, best friends Nicky Holloway and Cindy Saporito, and Godson David Holloway.  Her quality of life was enriched by caregivers and companions Debbie Hardie, Debi Garcia and Jessica Stanwood. Diane enjoyed the simple aspects of life - spending time with her family, playing with her grandchildren, visiting with friends, caring for animals, car rides and day trips, reading about The Royal Family, shopping and meals shared with loved ones.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 at 11:30 am at St Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 203 Southampton Road, Westfield.  Calling hours will be held at Firtion-Adams, 76 Broad Street in Westfield on Saturday from 9am-11am before the Mass.  In appreciation for the optimal care provided to Diane, memorial donations in Diane’s name can be made to Baystate Health Foundation (Home Health and Hospice), 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA  01199 or to the ASPCA at www.aspca.org.  www.firtionadams.com
