Elaine A (Toporowski) Garcia

Elaine A. (Toporowski) Garcia passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11th at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Westfield on June 18, 1938 to the late Leo and Jennie (Augustyniak) Toporowski and went to school at St. Mary’s Parish Church. In addition to raising her family, Elaine worked at Westfield State College in Food Services. Getting to know the students and providing love and support were her favorite parts of the job. Elaine enjoyed cooking and baking, always offering a sweet treat or meal to anyone visiting. During warmer weather, she loved being outside tending to her beautiful flowers and gardens. She was a devoted follower of her faith and member of the Holy Trinity Church community. Her endless energy was topped only by the love she had for her family, which included anyone who came into her life.She enjoyed going on vacation and her favorite destinations included Disney World, Cape Cod, and Ogunquit, Maine. She was always up for a Sunday drive, an afternoon barbeque or chat with family and friends. . In addition to her parents, Elaine is predeceased by her loving husband Robert J. Garcia in 2018 and brother Leon Toporowski in 2009. Elaine is survived by her loving children, James Garcia and his wife Debra of Westfield, Deborah Balser and her husband Tim of Westfield, Christine Sico and her husband Danny Sico of Huntington, Linda Garcia and partner Jake Patla of West Springfield, and Lori Bowen and her husband John Bowen of Westfield, Michael Garcia and his fiance Amanda Konsewicz of Westfield, her siblings Marion Zomek and her husband Stan Zomek of Westfield, Joseph Toporowski and his wife Elaine Toporowski of Montgomery, Theresa Terczyak of Springfield, her sister in law Janelle Wood and husband Michael Wood, her cousins including Ann Marie (Hasbrouck) Yager, her grandchildren, Jessica (Garcia) Stanwood and her husband Jeffrey Stanwood, Karen (Garcia) Raymaakers and her husband John L. Raymaakers III, Michael Bowen, Matthew Bowen, Meghan Bowen, Payton Billow, Morgan “Mo” Patla, her great grandchildren Jaxon, Joelle, Ella and Jack and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Spectrum Home Health and Hospice Care for the optimal care they provided for Elaine. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 17th, 2023 at 8:30 am at Holy Trinity Church on 335 Elm Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery Main St. Agawam. Calling hours will be held at Firtion-Adams, 76 Broad Street in Westfield on Thursday, November 16th from 4-7 pm.
