Eleanor Dell'Aquila Obituary

Eleanor V. Dell'Aquila, age 79, of Whiteford, Maryland, passed away on February 2, 2024, at Sterling Care Riverside in Belcamp, Maryland. She moved on to heaven to be with love of her life, Ray. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Atchue) Drohan, and the devoted wife of the late Raymond Dell'Aquila. Eleanor is survived by her son, Michael Dell'Aquila (Shauna) of Westfield, daughters, Christine Hagan of Philadelphia, PA, Kathy Malo and her husband, Dave of Westfield, and Mary E. Dell'Aquila and her partner, Jeffry Croteau of Whiteford, MD. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Andrew D. Hagan and his wife, Belen of Phoenix, AZ, Alexis & Mikaela Dell'Aquila of MA, Cheyanne, Dylan Croteau, and Felicity Dell'Aquila-Croteau all of Maryland. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Mia Diaz and Andrѐa Hagan of Phoenix, and Aaliyah Sieling of Maryland. In addition to her husband Raymond Dell’Aquila and her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Drohan, and sisters, Betty Peloquin, and Margaret Doyon. Eleanor grew up in Worcester and Grafton, MA. She attended St. Stephens High School in Worcester. Eleanor moved to Westfield in 1972 with her husband and children, where she lived until 2014 when she moved to Maryland. Eleanor dedicated 25 years of her life to the City of Westfield School District, where she served in various roles, including para-professional and office staff, before retiring in 2012. Her commitment to education touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. In her leisure time, Eleanor found joy in playing cards, camping, traveling, and immersing herself in the melodies of her favorite artist, Mr. Charisma. While living in Westfield, Eleanor was an active member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish and also in the Rosary Sodality. Her greatest pleasure was her grandchildren that she watched grow. Going to a softball game, dance competitions, hearing of basketball wins, attending music concerts, and seeing the tumbling of gymnastics all gave her immense pride. The family wants to thank all the staff at Sterling Care Riverside in Belcamp and for Amedisys Hospice for their support, kindness, and care of mom. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 from 5-8 PM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01085.
