Ella Freda (Cummings) Stearns, 100, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 30, 2025. She was born in New Haven, CT to the late Wallace J. and Freda (Egeler Alden) Cummings. She lived in Westfield for the past 80 years. She lived through many trials and challenges over the years but always overcame them. She retired from Digital in 1986 after 14 years as an Assembler. She worked previously as a Supervisor at W.T. Grant Dept. Store for 21 years until it closed. She was a parishioner at UCC Second Congregational Church. She was a Senior Volunteer Driver at the Westfield Senior Center for numerous years. She enjoyed traveling with her friends. She loved nature, especially her cats, watching birds, flowers and rides in the countryside. Ella had six siblings, all predeceased her: brothers Edgar, Charles, and Ernest; and sisters Laura Santestefano, Irene Sousa, and Vernita Yerdon.She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by her husband, Leonard B. Stearns, her son Leonard A. Stearns, and her daughter Jacquelyn A. Brennan and son-in-law Russell. Ella leaves five granddaughters: Laura Rosa and Harvey Couture, Mary Brennan and Norman Smith, Julie and Wes DeCoteau, Catherine and Gerardo Gil, and Patricia and Jim Robertson. She leaves behind 12 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren.
