Ellen E. (Hennessey) Goodwin

Ellen E. (Hennessey) Goodwin, 96, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Baystate Noble Hospital. She was born in New Haven, CT to the late Francis and Ida (Reed) Hennessey. She served her country with the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946, attaining the rank of Chief Yeoman. Ellen was co-owner and bookkeeper for R.L. Goodwin Trucking Co., and Goodwin Fuel Co., both of Russell. She also worked as a data clerk for Westfield River Paper, was treasurer for Gateway Schools, was a former Town Clerk of Russell, and was a mail handler at the Bulk Mail Center for the United States Postal Service. Sadly, Ellen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Donald S. Goodwin in 2003, her siblings, Robert, George, Donald, William and June and her daughter-in-law Beverly Goodwin. She is survived by her son Jeffery Goodwin of West Springfield, her brother Francis Hennessey of Florida and her sister Edith Richards of E. Haven, CT. Visiting hours will be held on March 19, 2020 Thursday from 5-7PM, in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad ST.
