Faye M. (Borowsky) Smithies

Faye M. (Borowsky) Smithies, 95, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2020. Faye was born in Holyoke to the late Frank and Caroline (Peters) Borowsky. She was employed by Buxton’s for many years and also worked as a home health care worker before she retired. She enjoyed going to casinos, playing Bingo and scratching her lottery tickets. Faye loved birds and had mothered several blue parakeets (all named Perky!) through the years. She collected bird figurines, bells and dolls for many years. She loved to sing, listen to music and was a great storyteller. Faye is survived by her sons Dennis W. Carlson of Warren, Barry C. Carlson and his wife Sheryl of Cape Cod and David A. Carlson and his wife Donna of Westfield. She also leaves behind her brother Charles Borowsky of Southwick and a special daughter in law, Kathleen Nielson of Westfield. She will be missed by her eight grandchildren, Shaun Carlson, Jason Carlson, Kimberly Censabella, Justin Carlson, Dawn Whitehill, Jennifer Harnden, Casey Ruffo and Courtney Carlson and thirteen great grandchildren. Faye will now be reunited with her siblings that predeceased her, Caroline Carinani, Frederick Borowsky and Arthur Borowsky. Faye's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 10:30 AM in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 60 Broad St. Westfield, followed by burial in ST. Johns Cemetery, Lockhouse Rd. Westfield. A visiting hour will precede the service from 9-10:15 AM in the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield, MA. www.firtionadams.com
