In loving memory of Frances Jessica Reed (Malachowski) of Westfield who passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on December 3, 1925. Frances graduated from the High School of Commerce with secretarial skills. Upon graduation, she worked at Van Norman Machine Tool Company in Springfield where she met Stillman A Reed, who served on USS Hornet in the Navy during World War II. They married on October 25, 1947 in Springfield, MA. As her children started high school, she started a new career as guidance counselor’s secretary at High School of Commerce. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Westfield since the family moved here in 1972. She enjoyed going to the luncheons with the Hilltop Group. Frances enjoyed reading historical fiction, completing the newspaper crossword puzzle every day, watching classic television shows especially mysteries, crocheting beautiful blankets for everyone, perennial gardening, baking from scratch, and home and seasonal decorating. She volunteered at Juniper Park School library weekly for many years. She especially enjoyed driving her Toyota Corolla! She was predeceased by her husband, Stillman, in 1976. She is survived by two children, Linda A Morell and husband, Lawrence and Douglas A Reed and wife, Denise. Her grandchildren are: Audra (Rodney) Wright, Adrianne (Jason) Winterling, Daniel (Aneis) Reed and Gregory Reed. The great grandchildren are: Lucas and Ava Wright and Olivia and Hannah Winterling. We would like to thank the wonderful staff and companions from Brookhaven Hospice, Visit Angels, East Longmeadow Memory Care and Integra for their loving support and care. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 3:30-4:30 with funeral service following at 4:30 at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
