Gaye L. (Pomeroy) Crowe

Gaye Crowe of Westfield passed away peacefully on September 1, 2023, at the age of 86. Gaye’s smile brightened every room that she entered. Her kindness and compassion lightened every life that she touched. Gaye is dearly missed by her beloved husband of 64 years Al, her brother Seth, her sister Alma, her sisters in law Wendy, Cookie, Midge, and Leslie, her brothers in law Al and John, her children Keith, Rachel, and Karin, her daughter in law Jean, her son in law Tom, her grandchildren Shannan, Ben, Hope, and Lilly, and her wonderful extended family. Gaye was predeceased by her brothers Leon and Lewis, her sister-in-law Shirley, and her brother-in-law Bill. Gaye treasured her many friendships forged during childhood, nursing school, and on her many joyful adventures since. During her career as a devoted nurse and instructor, Gaye treasured her patients, students, and all of her equally dedicated colleagues. Gaye was a member of the first class to complete the challenging 5-year program at the newly established University of Massachusetts School of Nursing. She was thrilled to celebrate her 50th reunion with her beloved classmates! Also dear to Gaye were the congregation of the Wyben Union Church, music, children and animals, and the many beautiful outdoor spaces, farms, and byways of Western Massachusetts. Gaye and Al also enjoyed many travels throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland. Their favorite adventures included a cross-country family camping trip, an adventure through Arizona and Texas with the dearest of friends, an international family reunion in England, and many journeys to Prince Edward Island. Gaye’s funeral service will be held on September 8th at 11 a.m. at the Wyben Chapel in Westfield followed by burial at the Middle Farms Cemetery and a gathering at Wyben Chapel. Gaye and her family are very grateful for the wonderful care she received from The Atrium, Dr. May Awkal-Matisewski, Beacon Hospice, and Nana Yaa Sarpong.
