George Slinski, Jr. Obituary

George J. Slinski, Jr., 76, passed away at home on Monday, May 18, 2020. He was born in Westfield to the late Julia (Gorski) and George J. Slinski, Sr. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and American International College and served his country in the Army National Guard.  He worked as an engineer for Colt Firearms before spending 30 years as the treasurer for Carrol Travel. Most recently he acted as a registrar/operator for Providence Behavioral Health Hospital. George is survived by his brother, Edward Slinski and his wife, Marge, three nieces, two grand nephews and his best friend of 63 years, David Pierrepont of Belchertown.  Dave devoted endless hours caring for George during his long and difficult illness. George enjoyed skiing, tennis, bowling, hiking, biking and was an avid golfer winning Southampton Country Club’s city championships in 1981, 1983, and 1984. He knew how to host a party. His welcoming personality made his traditional Christmas parties, which featured trains circling the Christmas tree, something to look forward to by friends and family.  All services were private and burial was held in St Mary's Cemetery, Westfield. Contributions in George's name may be directed to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 135 Parkinson Ave. Staten Island, NY, 10305 or in care of Firtion Adams Funeral Home.
