Gerald P Wozniak Obituary

Jerry Wozniak, 88, of Westfield, Mass passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born in Westfield, Mass on December 10, 1937, to the late Jennie and Joseph Wozniak, Jerry graduated from Westfield High School and went directly into the Navy after graduation. He spent 4 years in the Navy working in the military aircraft. Upon returning from the Navy, he worked at Sterling Radiator for most of his career, followed by municipal work for the city of Westfield.

He married the love of his life, Dotty Giltrop, on October 12, 1959. He had met her on one of his weekend home visits from the service. They were married for 66 years and raised four children together in Westfield. Jerry was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Jerry was an avid sportsman taking part in hunting and fishing. He fished in Ontario for salmon; Cape Cod for fluke, cod and striped bass; local rivers and ponds for trout. Fishing was such a peaceful pastime for Jerry.  He generally enjoyed anything related to nature. One of his special talents was growing a vegetable garden every year.  He and his family (father, and brothers) would have contests to see who could grow the earliest and best tomatoes. His garden represented the caring quality that he had with people as well. Jerry was also a lifetime member of Blessed Sacrament Church. A few of his other activities that he participated in included playing cards, pool playing, as well as bowling. He also was involved in the Noodle Club  (‘swimming’) at the YMCA in Westfield regularly.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wozniak of Westfield, Mass; Sheri and Jae Eklund of Harwich, Mass; Jay Wozniak and Donna Frates of West Dennis, Mass; Jennifer and Tammy Wozniak of West Springfield, Mass and Dan Wozniak and Dawn Hines of Easthampton, Mass. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren:   Bridget, Marissa and Max Eklund.  He is survived by his brother Joe Wozniak and predeceased by his parents and brothers, Eddy and Larry Wozniak.
