Hedwig (Windzio) Tomczyk

Hedwig (Windzio) Tomczyk passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Armbrook Village in Westfield, MA. More commonly known as Heidi, she was born on December 5, 1942 during WWII on the family farm in Suwalki, Poland to parents Ottilie (Reimann) and Johann Windzio. She had 3 brothers (Heinz, Helmut and Wilfred) and 1 sister (Julie). While Heidi was a very young girl, the family fled to Germany where she grew up. In the mid 1960's, she was sponsored to immigrate to Westfield, MA where she spent the majority of her adult life as a beautician, owning her own business Hilltop Coiffures at 2 Montgomery Street. In 1969, she married Germain J. Cote and had one child, Jeffrey. Heidi is survived by her older sister Julie, her younger brother Wilfred and his wife Maureen, sister-in-law Peggy, cousin Gunther, son Jeffrey, grandchildren Mathieu & Brigette, several nieces and a nephew. A special thanks to the Compass staff at Armbrook Village and all of her family who have showed her so much love and support throughout her life, especially her niece Lori for all of her extra loving care in the last years. At Heidi's request, there will be no services. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Westfield.
