Irene M (Renaud) Curran

Irene M. (Renaud) Curran, 93, of Westfield, passed away on October 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born in Westfield, MA on May 17, 1930, the daughter of Ambrose Renaud and Mattie (Guay) Renaud. She graduated from St. Mary High School. As a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield, Irene was active on many committees. Irene was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, William E. Curran, and two infant daughters. Also, her siblings, Will Renaud, Ruth Yarmesky, Madeline Emmershy and Betty Canterbury. Irene is survived by her beloved children Richard Curran (Janet) of Hudson, FL, William Curran, Jr. (Mary) of Southwick, MA, Gay Smith (Daniel) of Holyoke, MA and JoAnn Verrochi (James) of Westfield, MA. Irene leaves behind the loves of her life, her grandchildren Ryan James, Krista Curran, Richard Curran, William Curran, III, Daniel Curran, Benjamin Curran, Lily Smith, Jamie Dickinson (Steve), Katie Verrochi, Sarah Verrochi and her great grandchildren Brianna Smith, Madison Focht, Nora Focht, Thomas Focht, Jensen Kimball, Olivia Dickinson and Amelia Dickinson. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothy Lis and Joyce Leary, and many nieces and nephews. Irene worked as a switchboard operator for many years for New England Telephone, Noble Hospital and retired from Westfield State College after 20 years. She and her husband retired to Venice, FL where they have many friends and lived for 30 years, summering every year at Cape Cod, MA. Irene loved her family and friends and she was everyone’s Nana. Calling hours will be held at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 from 9-11:30 AM.
