Irene A Merrigan

Irene A. Merrigan, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, November 14, 2022. She was the daughter of Catherine Stejna of Indian Orchard. She was predeceased by her husband William Merrigan. She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Christine Mariani, and her husband Joseph (Jody) Mariani, and a cherished son, Mitchell (Mickey) Szydlowski. She also leaves behind two loving granddaughters, Lisa Liptak and Stephanie Reynolds, and her husband Gary Reynolds. She leaves behind granddaughter Denise Matuszczak. She was blessed with six great-grandchildren who adored her, Lindsay Liptak, MacKenzie Liptak, Kylie Liptak, Paul (Paulie) Liptak, Catherine Martins, and Michael Matuszczak. She also leaves behind two great, great grandsons, Joseph and Henry Martins. Irene, who was known by all as "Baci O," lived her life to the fullest in every way. You could often find her in the stands supporting her grandchildren at their soccer and lacrosse games and gymnastic meets. Her family was the center of her universe and she took great joy from celebrating her family member's special events and milestones over the years. She also enjoyed various hobbies, including cooking, card games, making delicious apple pies and outstanding pierogi's, reading, puzzles, watching old Hollywood classic movies, and knitting afgans for her family members. She loved to put together scrap books of special family events and accomplishments. She was a ray of sunshine wherever she went, and had a smile for everyone. While she will be dearly missed, the many beautiful memories and experiences we've had with her will live on forever. A visitation hour will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Firtion Adam's Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street in Westfield. A service will be held at 10 am.
