Irene Marie Scarfo (Boissonault), 87, of Westfield, passed away peacefully, in her home, on February 18, 2021, with her loving family by her side. Irene was born on January 16, 1934, daughter of the late Laval Boissonault and Albia Boissonault (Gagne). Irene graduated from Agawam High School and married her soulmate Louis J. Scarfo on June 16, 1956. Together they raised four daughters, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; all the while building a successful business from the ground up. Their love was the epitome of perfection in a marriage. Irene lived a meaningful life built on belonging, purpose, transcendence, and storytelling. She was a humanitarian in every sense of the word. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was; a person who used her strengths to serve others. Those who were blessed to know her bore witness to her selfless acts of generosity and the lessons that came with them. She had a way of lifting others above the hustle and bustle of daily life to a higher reality. Always surrounded by food, family and friends, Irene would captivate an audience with stories from her past, each filled with witty one-liners and stern but always loving words of wisdom. Irene is survived by her beloved husband, Louis J. Scarfo and four daughters with whom she held the tightest bond, Marie Masciadrelli and her husband David; Susan Hoey and her husband Stephen (departed); Linda Szalankiewicz and her husband Kevin; Joann Caveney and her partner Mark. She also leaves behind her brother Roland Boissonault; sister Joyce Cavallon (Boissonault) and her husband Roy; cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Irene was the central figure in the lives of those who loved her, a star in the eyes of all who saw her, and her fervent spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
