Jack Allan Wolfe passed away on Thursday, November 2 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 15, 1931 to Lawrence and Ada Wolfe. Jack married his high school sweetheart Lavae Wells in 1950. Jack and Lavae were married for 68 years until Lavae’s death in 2019. Jack served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Once discharged, Jack was employed by the former Springfield Fire and Marine Life Insurance Company. This company merged with Monarch Life Insurance which brought Jack and his family to Springfield, Massachusetts where Jack was promoted to Vice President of Marketing. Through a joint venture with Avon Products, Jack was named President and CEO of Great Oak Insurance Company. After leaving Great Oak, Jack and Lavae moved to Columbus, Ohio and Barrington, Illinois. Upon his retirement, they returned to Western Massachusetts, settling in Westfield. Unable to sit still for long, Jack decided to put his religious upbringing to use. He offered to set up and manage a Pastoral Care Program at Noble Hospital at no cost to the hospital. Jack considered his years at Noble helping grieving families to be without question, the most gratifying years of his life. He averaged 80 hours a week at the hospital until he retired at 85 to be a caregiver to his wife. Jack was a member of Christ Church Cathedral in Springfield. He served as a Deacon and was very active in many facets of the church. Jack will be missed by his daughters Leslie Costello of West Springfield, Paula Dubord and her husband Joe of Wilbraham, grandchildren Patrick Costello of Costa Mesa, California, Courtney Costello and her husband Patrick of Oakland, California, Mathew Dubord and his wife Megan of Wilbraham and Megan Ruscio and her husband Chad of Monson. He also leaves three great grandchildren to cherish his memory; Jack, Ada and Mae Dubord of Wilbraham.
