James Hart Obituary

James Francis Hart, 91, of Westfield, Massachusetts, passed away on March 21, 2026. Born on August 8, 1934, James was the son of the late Burton A. Hart and Mary M. (O’Hare) and a graduate of Westfield Trade School. James served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1963. Following his service, he drove tanker trucks for Mobil Oil until his retirement in 1993. After retiring, James and his wife, Margaret, lived in Zephyrhills, Florida for 25 years. He enjoyed golfing and worked at the Links of Lake Bernadette Golf Course. Together, they shared a love of travel and created many lasting memories. James was an active member of the Westfield Elks Lodge 1481, the Sons of Erin, where he was named Irishman of the Year in 1990, and American Legion Post 124. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret L. (Bilek). He also leaves his brother, Burton “Chip” Hart (Judy) of Lenoir City, Tennessee; his stepson, Phil Riverin (Julie) of Sarasota, Florida; his sisters-in-law Christine King and Carol (Robert) Podolski; his nephew, Andy (Michele); his niece Debbie (Tony); along with many other cherished nieces and nephews: Sheryl, Sandi, Cathy, Judy, Bobby, Heather, Melonie, Joanne, and Westley. The family would like to extend special thanks to Andy and Sheryl for their immense support, as well as to the staff at Armbrook Village Senior Living, Agawam North Rehab and Nursing, and Ascend Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sons of Erin Building Fund 22 William St, Westfield, MA. At the request of the family, services will be private.
