Janet S (Merrill) Bostock

Janet S. (Merrill) Bostock, 96, of Westfield, MA, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Westfield on March 21, 1929, Janet lived a full and adventurous life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and faith touched all who knew her. She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard G. Bostock. She is survived by her children: Gordon Bostock (Yvette) of Bennington, VT and his children Sharon, Seth and Jon; Lynn Holmes (John) of Southwick, MA and their children Derek (Tiffany), Dan (Krystal) and Donna Richards (Tyler); Gail Bostock (Jim) of Westfield, MA and her children Michael (Chrissy) and Amy (Aaron); Wayne Bostock (Deb) of Winston, OR and their children Melissa Jones (Dave) and James (Riley). She also leaves her beloved sister, Florence Kirman of Westfield, MA and grandson Gary John Bostock of Hertford, NC. Janet was incredibly proud of her 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her son Gary Bostock; grandchildren Sheila Jones Bostock and Gordon Bostock Jr.; her brothers William and Richard Merrill; and her sister Betty Champiney. She also leaves behind her cherished dog, Sweetie. A woman of deep faith, Janet was an active member of her church community, participating in Church Societies, the choir, and Bible study groups. She had an adventurous spirit and a love of travel, having journeyed through 49 U.S. states, visiting every state capital and numerous Native American reservations along the way. Calling hours for Janet will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at Wyben Union Church, Montgomery Road, Westfield, MA. Burial will follow at Norwich Bridge Cemetery in Huntington, MA.
